Yield strength values are obtained from the Stress-Strain diagram. The testing of the sample is done on the UTS i.e. Universal Testing Machine.
There is no exact formula to find out the Shear Strength value from Yield strength value, but as a rule of thumb, the relation between Shear Strength and the Yield strength is as follows:
i.e. the Shear strength is generally taken as half the Yield strength value
